By Chuck Reherman, Sports Editor – MUSTANG – Yukon opened the Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference Tournament in impressive fashion on Friday, routing Stillwater 16-4 at Wildhorse Park in Mustang.
It took the Millerettes, 19-0-1 only three innings to dispose of the Lady Pioneers. YHS scored 10 times in the third inning highlighted by Anna Icenhower’s grand slam home run.
The Millerettes had 13 hits in the game, led by Icenhower, who was 3-for-3 with five runs batted in. Aleyah Holman also went 3-for-3 with one RBI, Rylee Uhr was 3-for-4 with a run batted in and Chyenne Factor 1-for-1 with three RBIs.
YHS did trail 1-0 in the game (Stillwater scored in the top of the first), but answered that with three runs in the bottom of the frame, capped by Icenhower’s RBI single. Rylee Uhr and Hannah Hurtz had singles to open the game and Factor walked to load the bases. Breley Webb walked to force in a run, Breanna Johnson was hit by a pitch to send in a second and Icenhower singled in the third run.
Factor’s lone hit came in the second inning, a three-run home run that opened a 6-3 lead.
Leading 6-4 in the third, the Millerettes broke the game open on the bat of Icenhower, who launched a grand slam home run that broke the game wide open.
Icenhower, who batted twice in the inning, opened the frame with a single. After Jayden Flowers reached on an error, Holman singled home the first run of the inning. The Millerettes added runs on a passed ball, a ground out, a bases loaded walk and a hit batter, opening an 11-4 lead.
With the bases loaded, Icenhower came to the plate for the second time and launched her grand slam. Hannah Hurtz ended the game with a ground out (the second out of the inning) that scored a run and gave YHS a 12-run lead.
