Yukon’s city council will decide Tuesday whether to sell a large parcel of land at the northwest corner of State Highway 66 and Yukon Parkway.
John Gravitt, of Gravitt Homes, has submitted an offer to buy the land for $2.3 million. The city purchased the land several years ago with the idea that a new city hall complex would be built there. The land was purchased when Grayson Bottom was city manager.
City officials purchased the land at the time for an estimated $2.4 million, City Manager Jim Crosby said.
The land, as currently zoned, includes residential and commercial property. However, Crosby said the buyer has 90 days before the deal is finalized to rezone the property.
The majority of the land reportedly will be rezoned residential, Crosby said.
However, two parcels along State Highway 66 will remain commercial, which will include a strip center. One tenant reportedly has committed to locating on the commercial property.
Gravitt has built several residential projects in the Oklahoma City metro area, but this will be the company’s first endeavor in Yukon.
The council will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the Centennial Building, 12 S. 5th Street.
