YMS closes in on conference title

Yukon came within in a step on winning the conference title after posting a pair of wins this week.
The Millerettes beat Mustang South 6-3 on Tuesday night and routed Edmond Cheyenne 12-0 to improve to 14-2 overall and 11-1 in conference play.
The Millerettes can wrap up the title on Tuesday when the team travels to Stillwater on Tuesday. LMS routed the Lady Pioneers back on Aug. 28. The Millerettes close out the season on Thursday and Friday playing in the conference tournament. The tournament will be held at Wildhorse Park in Mustang.
The Millerettes took control of the game early, scoring three runs in the opening inning. LMS added three more runs in the third inning to open a 6-1 lead.
Ariah Mitchells’ two-out, two-run scoring double keyed the three-run first inning. Trinity Little had drawn a one-out walk and Madison Montgomery singled to put runners at first and third.
With two out, Mitchell drilled a fly ball to deep left centerfield that fell in and scored two runs. Victoria Hughes followed with a double to left field to open the 3-0 lead.
Mustang South scored on an RBI single and had two runners on base before the Millerettes got the third out of the inning to cut the lead to 3-1.
Hughes’ two-run scoring triple with two out in the third inning led the way for another three-run inning and a 6-1 Millerette lead.
Little started the rally with a single, but the next two batters made outs and the inning was looking like it would come to an end.
But, Mitchell singled to right centerfield. Hughes tripled down the leftfield line on an 0-1 pitch that drove in two runs and opened a 5-1 lead.
Jaycee McKee’s RBI single drove in Hughes and opened a 6-1 lead.
Mustang tried to get a rally started with a single to open the seventh inning. A two-out single cut the lead to 6-2 and double made it a 6-3 game.
Yukon pitcher McKee got the final batter out to seal the win.
Hughes led the hitting with two hits in two trips to the plate with three runs batted in Mitchell had two hit and a pair of RBIs. Little had two hits and scored a pair of runs.
LMS 12 Edmond Cheyenne 0
The Millerettes erupted for six runs in the first two innings and short-gamed Edmond Cheyenne 12-0 Monday night in Edmond.
It was the second win over Cheyenne by the Millerettes. Yukon had won that first meeting.
The Millerettes took control of the game in the opening inning, putting together five hits to score the six runs.
Montgomery keyed the first inning rally with a two-run scoring triple. Karly Nowlin had walked and Little singled before Montgomery’s two-run scoring triple to left field.
With one out, Mitchell singled to drive in Montgomery for the 3-0 lead. After a walk to Presley Bryant, McKee singled to drive in the fourth run. A Keylee Parsons singled capped the inning, plating two more runs.
Pellett, McKee and Brown keyed the six-run second inning with RBI singles that opened the 12-0 lead.
Nowlin had been hit by a pitch to start the inning and Montgomery walked with one out.
Pellett singled to drive in Nowlin with the seventh run of the game.
A walk to Mitchell loaded the bases and Bryant drove in run with a ground ball. McKee singled in another run and a ground ball from Parsons plated the fifth run. Brown capped the inning with an RBI single.
McKee went ther distance on the mound allowing only one hit and striking out seven.
