Aline Lance Monks, 93, passed away January 4, 2019 in Seattle, Washington with her family by her bedside.
Aline was born in Hartshorne, Oklahoma on August 12, 1925 to Juanita Pearl Richardson and Benjamin “Sim” Lance. She spent her early years in Hartshorne, graduating from high school in 1944. She married George W. Monks Jr. in 1949 and lived in Europe, Hawaii, and various other locations in the U.S. while George served in the U.S. Army.
When he retired, they settled in Longview, Texas where they operated a business. In the late 1970s they relocated to Yukon, Oklahoma where George taught at the district vocational school. George passed away in 2011, and in 2013 Aline and her sister relocated to Seattle near her nieces.
Aline was a bridge player, bowler, cake baker and accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her mother and stepfather at their farm near Atoka. But most of all, she liked to fish and taught her nieces and nephews the fun of catching perch from the farm pond.
She was proud to be a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and will be remembered for always sending birthday and holiday cards, keeping track of family history, and staying in touch with extended family members.
Aline was preceded in death by her husband; parents; beloved stepfather, Jay Allen; brother, Kenneth Lance, and brother-in-law, K Hudson Jr. She is survived by her sister, Geneva L. Hudson and her sister’s daughters, Lorelea Hudson and Sewa Kaur Khalsa and their families of Seattle. Aline also leaves behind cousins, nieces, and nephews in Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, and Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK. Interment will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, January 28 at Elmwood Cemetery, Hartshorne, OK.
