Yukon police do not believe foul play was involved after a body was discovered Wednesday morning along Interstate 40.
A road survey team found the body of an adult male at 10:48 a.m. May 8 in a grassy area on the north side of I-40 at Frisco Road.
The witnesses immediately notified Yukon police and investigators responded to the area, setting up a crime scene around the body.
The deceased man was Native American and between 40 and 50 years old, according to Yukon Police Major John Brown.
“It is not suspicious at this time,” Brown said Wednesday afternoon.
“There were no observable signs of trauma. We believe he was probably walking along I-40. We don’t think he was struck by a car.”
Police are awaiting word on the cause of death pending completion of the State Medical Examiner’s Office investigation.
Police investigators estimate the body had been there between 24 and 48 hours.
“We believe it may have been related to the elements or a medical issue,” Major Brown said.
The deceased man’s identity has not yet been released.
