Longtime Yukon resident Buddy Montgomery died Friday, May 24, 2019 at the age of 84. After a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease, he passed peacefully at home surrounded by family.
Buddy was born in Eufaula, Oklahoma on January 26, 1935 to Tom and Etta Montgomery. In 1956 he married the LOVE of his life Janetta Smithee. After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army, Buddy and Janetta moved to Yukon where they raised their four children.
Buddy was a master carpenter and well-respected home builder. He founded Montgomery Homes, in the early 1970’s, and it is still thriving today.
Buddy never met a stranger and enjoyed conversation. He also loved spending time with his family, practical jokes and bluegrass music.
Buddy is survived by his devoted with, Janetta; children: Donnie Montgomery and wife (Shari), Randy Montgomery and wife (Diana), Bryan Montgomery and wife (Lori), Tisha Friesen and husband (Larry); three siblings: brothers, Verne Montgomery and Marshall Montgomery and sister, Nadine Harralson; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard Montgomery and sister, Norma Breedlove.
Viewing will be held at Yanda & Son Funeral Home, 1500 W. Vandament Ave., Yukon, OK from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2019, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Viewing will also be held from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m., Thursday, May 30.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10 a.m., at Good News Church, 1054 E. Main Street, Yukon, OK 73099. He will be laid to rest in the Yukon Cemetery, 660 Garth Brooks Blvd., Yukon, OK.
