Contestants are sorely needed to compete in a pageant specifically designed for Yukon’s active older adults.
The fourth annual Ms. DRC “Age of Elegance” Pageant will be 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 inside the Dale Robertson Center, 1200 Lakeshore.
Ms. DRC Pageant contestants will be judged in four categories: Talent, interview, speech, and formal wear.
To be eligible, an individual must be 55 years or older and a member of the Dale Robertson Center.
Center members are being recruited to enter this friendly competition that debuted in 2016.
“I am still looking for contestants,” said April Taylor, assistant director at the Dale Robertson Center. “I would like to have five contestants, but I will take what I can get at this moment.”
Taylor thought she had three contestants for this year’s competition but she’s now down to one.
There were four contestants in the 2018 Ms. DRC Pageant, when Melba Williams was crowned the winner.
Rehearsal will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the center.
All ages are invited to attend the Ms. DRC “Age of Elegance” Pageant at the Dale Robertson Center.
“I would love the public to attend,” Taylor said. “It’s really a neat event and a lot of fun.”
There will be snacks for attendees.
Storey Oaks Memory Care is sponsoring prizes for this year’s pageant: $50 gift card for first place, $30 gift card for second place and $20 gift card for third place.
Tickets are $2 in advance and $3 at the door.
