Danley Royal Heusel, 76, of Yukon, Okla., passed away Aug. 25, 2019 at his Richland home surrounded by family and friends.
He was born Sept. 8, 1942 in Wichita, Kan. to Kathleen S. Danley Heusel and Royal E. Heusel. He graduated from Wichita West High School in 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Oct. 14, 1960 where he served four years as a Sonar Technician aboard the USS Hopewell DD-681 during the Vietnam War. He married Lana Sue Blanck on Dec. 2, 1967.
The couple was married for 52 years and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Dec. 2, 2016.
Dan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1998. He was a member of the American Legion, DAV and the NRA. Dan was an avid sportsman, who loved to hunt, fish and shoot. He was an accomplished sheet metal mechanic and welder.
Dan drove a big rig for several oil companies for 20 years and was employed at Tinker Air Force Base for a number of years, working on the B-52 “Stratofortress” before retiring in 2005.
He is preceded in death by his parents, of Gage, Okla.; his stepfather, William E. Barb, of Spavinaw, Okla.; one son, Monte D. Ruddle, of Azle, Texas; one grandson, Eric Webster, of Wichita, Kan.; and one great-grandson, Eli Hall, of Republic, Mo.
Dan is survived by his wife, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Diana Heusel, of Yukon; two daughters, Laura Webster, of the home, and Pam Ruddle, of Yukon; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Cheryl Barb, of Merrimac, N.H.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Luis, Jessica and Eloise Ruiz, of Puerto Rico.
A family memorial service is pending. Interment will be at Gage Cemetery in Gage, Okla.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crossroads Hospice.
