Nyla Jean (Creed) DePauk, a resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, November 4, 2019, in her home.
Nyla was born on July 28, 1943, in Prosperity, West Virginia to Emory Lloyd Creed and Wilda Mae (Williams) Creed. Nyla worked for the Social Security Administration as a Claims Analyst and retired in San Diego, California as a Budget Analyst for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command. The cities she called “home”, as she often said, were Prosperity, West Virginia; Baltimore, Maryland; Vienna, Virginia; San Diego, California; and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Nyla’s favorite hobby was genealogy. She spent many years doing research, visiting cemeteries and libraries, writing books, and freely sharing her findings with others.
Nyla is survived by her daughter, April Dawn (DePauk) Brooks, of Yukon, Oklahoma; her son, Eric Phillip DePauk, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her brother, James and his wife Elizabeth Creed, of Prosperity, West Virginia; her niece, Regina Kay (Creed) Taylor and her husband Hugh; her niece, Karen Sue (Creed) Gardner and her husband Frank; and numerous nephews and nieces. Nyla was preceded in death by her parents, Emory Creed and Wilda (Williams) Creed.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Nyla’s favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, or the charity of your choice.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2019, at the Yukon Cemetery in Yukon.
