The Yukon Chamber of Commerce will cap off its five-week Christmas shopping campaign when more than a dozen lucky winners claim $5,000-plus worth of Santa Bucks and gift certificates to spend at any of 58 participating businesses.
The 2019 Yukon Yuletide Express will end at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 16 with what promises to be an unforgettable “Departure Party” outside the Yukon Chamber office at 10 W Main.
“We appreciate everyone for their willingness to ‘shop local’ this holiday season,” Yukon Chamber CEO Pam Shelton said. “We urge people to keep their tax dollars here to show that Yukon is a strong community that supports its merchants.”
Santa Claus will be on hand Monday night to draw the names of this year’s Yukon Yuletide Express winners.
People who enter the prize drawing are eligible after receiving red Santa Express tickets while visiting 58 Yukon-area merchants during the retail promotion.
Next Monday’s winners will claim Santa Bucks ranging from $100 to $1,000. The Santa Bucks can be redeemed by Feb. 29, 2020 at any participating Yukon Yuletide Express business.
Several gift certificates also will be awarded during the festive Departure Party.
Shoppers between Nov. 11 and Dec. 12 were eligible to receive one drawing ticket for every $10 spent (up to 500 tickets) at a Yukon Yuletide Express location.
The 2019 Yuletide Express has been designed to encourage Christmas and holiday shoppers to spend money at Yukon-area retailers.
The most a customer has spent with a participating merchant, “the better their chance of winning,” Shelton noted.
Winners must be present at Monday night’s Departure Party to be eligible for the Santa Bucks and prize giveaway. They are asked to write their name and phone number on the back of their red tickets.
Anyone who cannot attend is asked to designate one of 19 non-profit charities to receive a prize if their ticket was drawn.
Yukon Yuletide Express sponsors are home improvement companies, clothing boutiques, restaurants, banks, antique and craft stores, hotels, insurance agencies, medical offices, health clinics, liquor stores, and other retailers.
