West Point Christian Church embarks on a new era in their 125-year history with the hiring of a new part-time minister, Pastor Lisa Wynn.

Pastor Lisa’s first Sunday in the pulpit will be Jan. 12. She is a commissioned minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Oklahoma Region, and is a graduate of the region’s Commissioned Ministry Training Program.

Pastor Lisa is also a trained spiritual director through the HeartPaths Spirituality Center in Oklahoma City. She also holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees related to her secular work.

Before her call to West Point, Pastor Lisa was working part-time as a hospice chaplain for a local hospice and filling in for various churches in the region. Her church work has always been bi-vocational.

Pastor Lisa retired from full-time secular work in 2017, after spending 35 years working in the healthcare field.

When she’s not preaching or offering spiritual direction, she enjoys traveling or doing something creative, mostly music related.

Wynn is a composer and multi-instrumentalist, focusing mostly on the Celtic harp.

She is certified as a clinical musician through the Harp for Healing program and plays harp at the bedside of patients in their homes, hospitals and nursing homes.

Wynn also directs the SpiritSong Threshold Singers, a local Threshold Choir chapter which are volunteers who sing at the bedside of hospice patients.

She is married to Steve Wynn who is retired from the Air Force, and they will celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2020. They have two children and five grandchildren.

“We are thrilled to have found Pastor Lisa,” said Melinda Rushing, chairperson for the minister search committee. “She brings quite a lot of varied experience that will make for a perfect fit for our congregation. We are excited about our future with Pastor Wynn.”
