During the state of emergency, essential businesses are open in Yukon, such as Ace Hardware Home & Auto on Main Street.

In the Main Street Market Place building at 405 W Main, Ace Hardware store owner Buddy Carpenter said there was no slowdown in the number of customers, and the store was open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and even later some days.

“We’ve been very busy, we’ve been keeping the same hours pretty much. We’ve stayed open longer on some days. If we are real busy we stay longer,” Carpenter said.

The COVID-19 pandemic has closed many non-essential businesses. Barber shops remain closed.

Yukon’s state of emergency order has been declared until April 30 and could be extended longer. Follow the Yukon Progress and yukonprogress.com for updates.
