After 18 Yukon city employees were laid off April 9 by City Manager Jim Crosby, the city council will meet Tuesday to consider a motion to approve reinstating them.
The Yukon City Council will meet in a special meeting, 6 p.m Tuesday, April 28 at the Centennial Building, 12 S 5th Street.
An agenda item reads, “Consider a motion to approve reinstatement of employees needed to staff the reopening of city departments/facilities currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Crosby told the council recently that the drop in sales tax revenue due to the pandemic had been the reason behind the layoffs. Cutbacks of 2% were made in departments citywide.
Councilman Jim Wootton asked Crosby at a meeting last week to consider rehiring the employees who had been laid off.
