Yukon’s city council did not take any action Tuesday night during an emergency meeting on the city manager’s proposal to rehire 18 recently laid off employees.
The council will discuss City Manager Jim Crosby’s proposal to rehire the employees next week, however. Crosby told the council Tuesday night he thinks the newest member on the council should be present. Newly-elected Ward Four Councilman Aric Gilliland will be sworn in Tuesday, May 5.
Councilman Jeff Wootton previously asked Crosby to rehire the employees.
Crosby announced the layoffs April 9 due to loss of sales tax revenue during the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis.
A regular council meeting will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 in the Centennial Building.
