For those wanting to apply for a concealed gun permit, they can do so again in Canadian County after services were suspended due to COVID-19 have resumed, Sheriff Chris West announced Friday.

Fingerprint services and Self Defense Act applications resumed Friday. Residents are required to wear a mask while inside the jail, lobby or the fingerprinting room.

Applicants will need to give their temperature by a thermometer scan of the forehead by jail staff before entering the lobby, West said.

“I’m extremely happy to resume these very important services, and believe the procedures we’ve put in place are safe, reasonable and will accommodate our citizens at the same time,” West said.
