Fireworks, event details to be announced

Yukon’s annual Freedom Fest will return for the Fourth of July in a new form this summer, and events may not be the same as in a year without a pandemic, city leaders announced Tuesday night.

The city’s 2020 celebration is still being planned.

“We do have good news. It looks like the third and the Fourth of July will be celebrated,” Mayor Shelli Selby said at a Tuesday night regular city council meeting.

City Manager Jim Crosby said, “It will be different.”

Music will start at 5:30 p.m., Crosby said, and food trucks may be there. Fireworks are planned,he said.

More details are expected to be announced this week.
