From Staff Reports

There will be plenty of fireworks this year for Independence Day.

The Yukon City Council approved the purchase of fireworks for the 2020 Freedom Fest public display.

The July 4 celebration had been in doubt due to the pandemic, but plans have been made to have the festival, with some changes this year due to COVID-19.

The city council approved a contract Tuesday night with ARC Pyrotechnics Inc. to perform two fireworks shows. The shows will be on July 3 and on July 4. The cost for the two shows is $39,900.

The city council approved the purchases with the option to renew their contract with the company for two more years. The vote was unanimous in favor of the purchase.
