The group Canadian County Voices has organized a rally and march in Yukon Sunday to protest racial injustice.

Yukon Rally for Solidarity is 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 14, according to the group’s social media post.

The rally includes a march down Main Street, State Highway 66.

The group had previously announced a march and rally from a grocery store parking lot near Cornwell and Vandament to the police station, but security concerns and the high temperatures resulted in it being canceled on Friday, June 5.

Local Yukon protesters have demonstrated along SH 66 at Yukon Parkway.

Police said the protests have been peaceful.

Since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Black Lives Matter and many others have organized protests across the United States.

The Canadian County Voices group posted a statement that reads, “Bringing big city messages to suburban locations and raising the voices of suburban areas.”

The group also states that there will be “zero tolerance for aggravation or escalation.”

Masks and social distancing measures are recommended.
