Yukon Main Street is cruising full speed ahead in planning the 2020 Cruise-In for a Cause, returning for the second year on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 6-10 p.m.
The event is a passive leisure, open cruise on Yukon’s iconic Route 66.
In addition to the thrill of enjoying America’s Main Street in a fun and unique way, car enthusiasts have the opportunity to support local charities.
Proposals are now accepted from interested non-profit organizations.
Four causes will be selected, with priority consideration given to Yukon non-profit, “help causes.”
“There’s so many non-profits and they do great work,” Yukon Main Street Director Vicki Davis said. “But we’re specifically interested in helping those that serve the most needy in our community – whether that’s people or pets or whatever.”
Submission deadline is Friday, July 24. To request a proposal, email email@example.com or call 350-5999.
“We’ve made a few exciting changes geared towards increasing participation and encouraging Cruisers to visit businesses along the route,” event coordinator Judy Austin said.
Main Street will not be blocked to through traffic, and participation is free of cost and open to all street-legal vehicles.
“One thing we learned from last year was that many car owners really enjoyed parking under the lights of Main Street,” Austin added.
A limited number of Park & Show spaces are reserved on Main Street’s 400 block.
These spaces are reserved by registration on a first come, first served basis.
As was done last year, 50% of each registration is donated to the participant’s cause of choice.
The Sept. 17th Route 66 car cruise is presented by Yukon’s Best Main Street program and the non-profit Yukon 66 Main Street Association.
