The 2020 Canadian County Free Fair has not been canceled due to COVID-19, but changes have been made.

The August fair has been scaled back.

Only the livestock show portion of the fair will be included this year due to the coronavirus.
This year is the 66th annual fair. The plans must be approved by the El Reno City Council, according to a news release from the fair board.

The Canadian County Free Fair is planned for Aug 26-29 at the Fairgrounds in El Reno .
Youth in FFA and 4-H programs participate in the Canadian County and state livestock shows.

This year is the 66th annual Canadian County Free Fair at 220 N Country Club Road.

The fair board canceled the rodeo and music shows.

The Canadian County Fair Board met on Thursday, July 16th and voted to cancel most of this year’s county fair activities, with the exception of the livestock show, said Fair Board President Kelly Beck.

“It is with much regret fair board members unanimously canceled most of this year’s Canadian County Free Fair due to variables beyond our control,” Beck said.

Fair Board Secretary, Brad Tipton said sheep and goats will arrive for showing on Wednesday, August 26, and then leave the barn. Cattle will be exhibited on Thursday, August 27t with our swine show wrapping things up on Friday, August 28.

Tipton said the board will host a “show and go,” livestock activity, which follows CDC precautions for livestock shows.

The board voted to use current CDC livestock show precautions. In a statement made on July 14, the CDC updated their recommendations to provide more detailed precautions for livestock shows.

Beck said, “No other Free Fair activities or events listed in our fair book will take place in 2020 except for a youth livestock.

Everything else set to have happened on August 26-29 including horse events, entertainment, trapshooting and the Wrangler’s annual fair rodeo have been canceled this year.”

Tipton said the plan must pass El Reno City Council’s approval, “in order to have this small piece of the fair happen.”
