An arrest in connection with the death of a 7-Eleven store clerk who was shot and killed early Thursday in southwest Oklahoma City near Yukon has been reported Friday morning by police.

The clerk killed Thursday was Laura Taylor, 30, of Yukon.
George Lorenz Way, 31, who lives in the 11500 block of SW 15, was arrested by Oklahoma City police Thursday. He was booked at the Canadian County jail Thursday night on complaints of murder and robbery with a firearm.
Police investigators allege Way walked into the store, 1601 S Mustang Road, at SW 15 and Mustang Road, and robbed the store about 2:30 a.m. Taylor followed Way outside of the store where she was shot and killed in the parking lot. Way then fled on foot, police report.
A 7-Eleven spokesperson released the following statement Thursday afternoon.
“Our hearts are with the victim’s family. We are gathering information and working with local law enforcement. The store is currently closed while police complete their investigation,” the statement reads.
Video surveillance of the crime will not be released by police, Knight said.

The homicide was the 44th killing in Oklahoma City of the year.
“Investigators believe Ms. Taylor was killed during a robbery of the store,” according to an Oklahoma City police news release.
Oklahoma City Police Capt. Jeff Spruill said when officers arrived early Thursday Taylor was lying in the parking lot and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooting of a 7-Eleven store clerk in the area is the second one in a year.
About 2 a.m. on Nov. 12, store clerk Ross Garrett, 64, was shot and killed in a robbery at 7-Eleven, 12201 W Reno Ave. at Czech Hall Road just south of Yukon city limits.
The shooter, Justin Anderson, 39, later opened fire on officers in the 10900 block of SW 33 near Sara Road and was killed by police who returned fire.
