Eva “Gail” Mattingly, 82, passed away peacefully with her beloved son and daughter by her side, on Saturday, September 26, 2020.
Gail was born March 5, 1938 in Millerton, Oklahoma to Roe and Pearl Lambert. She graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a B.A. in History. There she met and married Ralph Lynn Mattingly and had two children.
Gail worked alongside her husband in their insurance agency for a number of years. She later worked for Oklahoma Social Services. Throughout her life she was devoted to her immediate and extended family, and friends. Gail was an avid gardener, seamstress, square dancer and reader.
Once retired, Gail joined several writing clubs. She has won numerous awards for her poetry and short stories. She was known for her witty sense of humor and empathetic listening.
Gail is survived by a daughter, Gail Lynn Mattingly; son, Russel Lane Mattingly; sisters; Bobby Simpson and Peggy Qualls, and brothers, Jimmy Lambert and Jerry Lambert
Gail was preceded in death by her parents Roe and Pearl Lambert.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK.
