Yukon Public Schools enrollment drops

The number of students enrolled in Yukon Public Schools has dropped in the first month of the fall semester.

The most recent enrollment figure available Sept. 29 from the district shows 8,206 students in Yukon grades pre-kindergarten to 12th.

The district’s enrollment in August was 8,982 students.

The numbers show as of Sept. 25, there were 721 students enrolled in the Yukon Virtual School, a year-long commitment, and the remainder, 7,487 on campuses for in-person learning.


Yukon Schools opened with all distance learning in August. On Sept. 16, the district open the doors to in-person learning for grades pre-kindergarten through third grades. The grades fourth through 12th returned on Monday, Sept. 21.

The Yukon School Board voted on Sept. 8 to return to in-person learning. The district opened in late August with online learning only.
