Michael Clarence Newman, 70 went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 27, 2020 after a long battle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). He was born on October 20, 1949 to Louie and Claire Newman. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Nora; sons, Blake and wife Jodie and Chris and wife Traci; grandchildren: Tyler and wife Ashley, Caleb, Addison, and Christopher Newman and Madison Simmons, and great-grandsons, Beckham and Nash. Mike is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Newman and wife Gerri, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike owned his own Security company for several years after retiring for SW Bell. He then joined Kleen Products, the family business and was co-owner with his brother at his death.
Mike proudly served in the Army National Guard for several years. He also served as the youth director at the Mustard Seed for May Avenue United Methodist Church in his younger years. A Yukon Reserve Police Office, he also served on the Yukon Planning Commission for several years. Mike coached numerous youth baseball, basketball and football teams for his sons. He then went on to umpire boys and girls softball and basketball and also umpired high school football. He served on the Board for the Yukon Jays organizations for several years and was on the Board of Directors for Friends of NW Classen his alma mater.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2020 at Yanda and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon, OK. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 8 for those not comfortable attending the celebration.
