Geralyn (Gerri) Diane Newman

Today many hearts are broken at the loss of a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Geralyn (Gerri) Diane Newman unexpectedly passed away on November 22, 2022. She was born on December 28, 1944, to Kenneth & Donna Hunt. She is survived by her loving, devoted husband of 54 years, Kenneth Newman; son Mick and wife Mandy; daughter Mindy and husband Scott; grandchildren Jared and wife Hannah; Jackson and wife Stephanie; Haley and husband Evan; Sarah; Zack; Jordan and fiancé Andrew; Noah; Carson, and Alyson & Katie, and great-grandchildren Lilly, Candi and Wyatt. She is also survived by her sisters Kaylon, Barbara & Lindy; sister-in-law Nora and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Donna; brother Charles Hunt, and brother-in-law, Mike Newman.

Gerri graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1962 and attended Oklahoma State University for 2 years. She loved her Oklahoma State Pokes. She married her high school sweetheart Kenneth Newman on August 12th, 1966. He was her true hero and took such good care of her throughout their marriage. They were the couple everybody envied. She worked at Apco Oil Company for many years and for the Yukon Methodist Church, where her and her family were very active throughout the years. She ended her work career at Lopez Foods where she finally retired in 2006. She was a truly independent woman and instilled that in both of her children. Grammar, respect and table manners were her strict code; you can ask her children & grandchildren. She was the most loving and loyal person to walk this earth. The love she had for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was limitless. She was an avid and voracious reader. She loved her books and had a huge library that she was very proud of. Her love of reading carried over to several of her grandchildren. Known by many as the “sparkly grandmother,” the phrase “she left a little sparkle everywhere she went” fit her to a tee.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Catrina Bourne for taking such good care of our loving Gerri for several years. A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m., Monday November 30th at Yanda and Son Funeral Home Chapel, Yukon. The family will receive guests at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 29th for those not comfortable attending the celebration. Masks will be required.
