A man could spend a long time in prison after being charged with sexually assaulting a child at a home just east of Yukon.
Cody James Vasquez, 23, faces charges of first-degree rape and lewd/indecent acts to child under 16 in Canadian County District Court.
The crime allegedly occurred in October at a mobile home community in the 9000 block of N.W. 10th in far eastern Canadian County, according to court documents.
Vasquez was booked at 4:43 p.m. Oct. 22 into the Canadian County Jail in El Reno after Oklahoma City Police investigated the reported crimes. The Canadian County District Attorney’s Office, represented by Assistant DA Eric Epplin, formally charged him Nov. 4.
At Vasquez’s initial court arraignment that day, Canadian County Special Judge Khristan Strubhar set bond at $50,000 on two felony counts.
The defendant raped an underage female and knowingly and intentionally touched the victim’s private parts “with his hands and mouth in a lewd and lascivious manner,” court records indicate.
If convicted, Vasquez faces not less than five years in prison for the first-degree rape and 3-20 years in prison for the lewd/indecent acts.
A preliminary hearing conference was Nov. 30 before Judge Strubhar.
