Wauneta Ellen “Neta” Kappus

Wauneta Ellen “Neta” Kappus, 74, was born January 5, 1946 in Grand Island, NE and passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Neta grew up in Piru, CA before making her journey to OK in 1972. In her younger adult days, she had various roles in the health care industry. She met Clyde, the love of her life, in 1987 when he asked her “Could I Have This Dance for the rest of my life?” She then became a wonderful wife and homemaker.

Family is what happens when 2 people fall in love and together they built a beautiful tribe loving their 6 children, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grands and 2 great-great grands.

Neta loved to cook, and published a cookbook in 1998 titled “Dishing up Memories”. It was a passion of hers to make something special she could pass down to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. We look forward to another publication, in her loving memory, as our family continues to grow.

She is preceded in death by her mother Ruth Ann McDonald; brother Harley Burd; son Steve Kappus, and daughter Nancy McHenry.

Neta is survived by her husband Clyde Kappus; children: Brenda Kappus-Smith, Debra Stratton, Warren Brakefield and his wife Charlotte and April Faries and husband Ron; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grands and 2 great-great grands, as well as many nieces, nephews.

Neta will be loved and remembered for her love, humor, best friend, greatest smile and biggest heart. She was the best Mimi, Grandma and Sweetheart to all of us.
