Canadian County Sheriff’s Office arrests two in child predator sting

Men jailed for allegedly trying to meet for sex with minors

The Canadian County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two Oklahoma City men after undercover investigations targeting online child predators.

Krishna Kama Skanes, 39, and Jay Randall Benson, 38, face formal felony charges in Canadian County District Court.

Krishna Kama Skanes

Skanes was charged with using technology to solicit sexual conduct with a minor and Benson was charged with lewd/indecent acts to a child under 16 and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

“The sheriff’s office will continue vigorously pursuing child predators as long as they’re out there,” Canadian County Sheriff Chris West said.

A Cleveland County sheriff’s deputy on Dec. 14 arrested Skanes after the Canadian County District Attorney’s office issued a warrant for his arrest.

Canadian County sheriff’s investigators had learned Skanes sent a photograph of his genitals to a middle school student in Canadian County. Skanes then tried to text with the minor, but the alleged victim reported the photograph to authorities.

The victim’s parent, pretending to be the child, allegedly told Skanes he was talking to a 14-year-old. Skanes then allegedly asked for a picture of the minor’s body after sending another photograph of genitals.

A member of Canadian County’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) unit used an undercover account to communicate with Skanes.

Skanes continued to speak with an undercover investigator thinking he was talking to the victim, and a search warrant was issued for Skanes’ social media accounts.

After being charged in Canadian County, Skanes’ bond was set at $5,000. He was charged with a similar crime in Cleveland County and will be brought to Canadian County after his court dates there.

Jay Randall Benson

Meanwhile, the county’s ICAC unit on Dec. 16 arrested Benson for trying to pick up a 14-year-old girl for sex.

Benson was arrested at a fast food restaurant near Interstate 40 and Mustang Road, having allegedly brought a knife and condoms to the meeting.

During the investigation, Benson allegedly was told he was speaking to a 14-year-old female on social media; however, this did not stop him from continuing the conversation.

Quickly after Benson was put on notice, he allegedly sent photographs of his genitals to what he believed was a minor female. Benson sent five sexually explicit photographs to an undercover investigator, according to the sheriff’s office.

During the conversation, Benson allegedly expressed worry about being set up by law enforcement – but quickly changed his attention to requesting oral sex from the minor.

Benson allegedly described various sexual fantasies he wanted to experience with the underage girl, including showering together. After the conversation became sexually explicit, Benson reportedly mentioned how much trouble he could get into by talking to a minor this way.

As the conversation progressed, Benson allegedly wanted to set up a meeting place to pick up the underage girl. He selected a fast-food restaurant to meet face-to-face.

Canadian County sheriff’s investigators waited for Benson at the meeting place, and soon Benson arrived to pick up the minor in a stolen truck.

Benson was quickly arrested by deputies and booked into the Canadian County Jail. Bond was set at $65,000.
