Dr. Dale Eugene Metzler passed away on December 25th, 2020 at the age of 70, in Oklahoma City from a sudden and brief battle with COVID-19.
Dale was born October 19th, 1950 in El Dorado, Kansas but spent most of his childhood in Arkansas City, Kansas. Dale earned a Bachelor’s degree at Southwestern Oklahoma State University College of Pharmacy in Weatherford in 1973. Dale met his wife Glenna B. Metzler at SWOSU. They celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in August. In 1974, Dale was hired as a Staff Pharmacist with Wheeler Stuckey Pharmacy and eventually became the owner in 1986. Dale loved being a pharmacist and helping his patients. He formed countless relationships with people throughout his 48-year career as a Pharmacist.
Dale was a devoted Christian, loving husband and father and an amazing “Grand Dad”. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Yukon where he taught Sunday School and Precept Bible studies. Dale loved being apart of his two sons, Adam and Cory’s, baseball and basketball careers. Dale was not quite the athlete of his boys, but that did not stop him from spending countless hours practicing with them. Dale bought a full set of gear and caught both of his sons through High School.
His kids sporting events is where Dale discovered a passion for photography. In the mid to late 90’s, Dale could be seen at Yukon High School sporting events taking pictures for the Yukon Review newspaper. Dale was even hired as an event photographer during the State Fair of Oklahoma, where one of his pictures was published in the USA Today newspaper.
As a Grand Dad of three, Dale would attend almost every event for Madelyn, James, and Nolan. Whether it would be a musical play, a cross country meet, basketball and baseball games, and especially grandparent’s day at their schools, Dale made it a point to be there to form his special bond with each grandchild.
Dale was survived by his only sister and brother in-law Kaye and Johnny Beal; his wife of 49 years Glenna B. Metzler; Oldest Son Adam Metzler and his two children Madelyn and James Metzler; Youngest Son Cory Metzler and his wife Elizabeth Metzler and their son Nolan Metzler.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Virginia Metzler.
