A Yukon-area man who claims he was dreaming when he sexually assaulted an underage girl has been charged with a felony for the crime.

Nathan Robert Leigh, 40, was charged Dec. 18 in Canadian County District Court with lewd/indecent acts to child under 16. Oklahoma City Police investigated the March 2019 incident, which was reported on Mark J. Avenue south of Yukon.

Leigh, of Birkenhead Court, faces three to 20 years in state prison if convicted.

Canadian County prosecutors allege the defendant “knowingly and intentionally” touched the private parts of the 12-year-old victim “in a lewd and lascivious manner by act(s) against public decency and morality.”

A court affidavit signed by Oklahoma City Police Det. Bradley Conley details the allegations against Leigh. The investigator conducted a forensic interview with the victim, who disclosed what had occurred.

The girl’s parents confronted Leigh after being notified.

“Nathan told them he was having a dream he was doing this to his ex,” according to Conley’s affidavit. “He apologized for upsetting (the victim).

“During an interview, Nathan denied the allegations and did not offer an explanation of being asleep, but only that we would never do something like this.”

Special Judge Charles Gass issued a no-bond warrant for Leigh’s arrest. Leigh was booked at 12:28 a.m. Dec. 19 into the Canadian County Jail in El Reno.

Assistant District Attorney Eric Epplin is prosecuting the case. Leigh is represented by Chickasha attorney Eric Reynolds.
