An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper from Yukon was injured in a crash on Interstate 40 between the John Kilpatrick Turnpike and Sara Road Friday, according to reports.
Eastbound lanes were reduced as emergency crews responded.
Trooper Densil Johnson of the Canadian County detachment was treated and released from a hospital for minor injuries, a patrol spokesperson reported.
A KOCO-TV reporter from a helicopter who was live on Facebook reported the trooper may have been helping another motorist when a truck rear-ended the trooper’s patrol car.
Traffic started to back up on I-40 for about a mile to Mustang Road.
According to a tweet from OHP, Johnson was not seriously injured.
“Grateful the injuries weren’t worse after one of our troopers was hit from behind this morning on I-40 near Sara Road. The trooper was stopped along the side of the road to assist a tractor trailer that had broken down,” the tweet reads.
Johnson and the driver of the truck that struck the patrol car were taken to a hospital, the patrol tweeted.
