Slow down in the school zones today!

The times of the day when school zone lights will be flashing for motorists in Yukon have been announced by the City of Yukon.

School starts for Yukon Public Schools Thursday, Aug. 12. Motorists are urged to be cautious with over 9,000 students enrolled in Yukon schools for the fall semester.

Yukon Police Sgt. Joey Rushing is one of four of the department’s school resources officers. Rushing will be busy Thursday, and he had words of advise for motorists.

“Just slow down and be mindful of the lights and know that we’ve got a lot of kids who are walking and riding bikes and coming to school and they are hard to see,” Sgt. Rushing said.
