The volunteer “Get Involved” meetings in Yukon Public Schools have been canceled out of “an abundance of caution” with COVID-19 cases on the rise, district officials announced.

Volunteer meetings were scheduled to be from Monday, Aug. 16 through Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 12 sites in the Yukon schools district.

In an abundance of caution, YPS has decided to postpone the Volunteer Get Involved Meetings and suspend all-volunteer programs for the time being,” a statement from the district released on social media reports.

If you have already signed up to volunteer, one of our coordinators will contact you when we have more information. We hope to be able to reschedule the meetings sometime soon. Thank you for being a part of Yukon Public Schools. We LOVE our volunteers!” the district reports.

All previously planned meeting events at the elementary, intermediate, middle and high school sites are canceled.

Other volunteer programs planned were the Dads of Great Students and Miller Mentors and vision and hearing screeners.
