Yukon ‘Nutcracker’ auditions set Sunday, Aug. 29

Local dancers needed for Dec. 4-5 production

Auditions for Central Oklahoma Ballet’s 2021 “Nutcracker” production in Yukon will be Sunday, Aug. 29 at Doran-Vossen School of Dance, 519 Maple.

Ages 7-11 years will audition from 2-2:45 p.m. and ages 12 and above will audition from 3-3:45 p.m.

Dancers who audition should now be attending a ballet technique class at least twice a week.

Dancers must bring photographs of themselves to the Aug. 29th audition.

They should arrive at the studio dressed in proper attire for a ballet class – black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, and hair in a bun for girls; white T-shirts, black tights and ballet shoes for boys.

The audition fee is $15.

Nutcracker performance dates are tentatively set for Saturday, Dec. 4 and Sunday, Dec. 5 at the Yukon Fine Arts Center, 850 Yukon Ave.

The Central Oklahoma Ballet Co. is a 501c3 company consisting of dancers from cities and towns across central Oklahoma.

For the past 25 seasons, Central Oklahoma Ballet has staged this major production featuring national and international guest artists from major dance companies.

This year’s Nutcracker performances will be accompanied by the Oklahoma Community Orchestra conducted by Irv Wagner.

The performances are publicized across central Oklahoma and attract a regional audience.

Central Oklahoma Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker is supported by the Oklahoma Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, and various corporate and individual donors.
