A fight injured a half dozen inmates early Monday at the Canadian County jail after a power outage, Sheriff Chris West reported.
Shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, Sept. 6, members of the Canadian County Special Operations Team were activated to assist with an altercation in the county jail involving about 15 to20 inmates, West reported.
About six inmates were taken to area hospitals with minor injuries, West reported.
The sheriff’s special operations team arrived and entered the 60-bed pod, and the brawl ended. The cause of the power outage was not reported.
“Although our investigation into the matter has just began, I believe the incident is most likely gang-related,” West said.
