A Yukon Public Schools teacher’s aide has died of COVID-19, according to reports.
Erin Martinez Rhodes was a teaching assistant at Skyview Elementary School.
A statement was released by Yukon Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jason Simeroth Monday.
“Yukon Public Schools is saddened by the loss of one of our own, Erin Rhodes. She was a respected and valued member of the YPS Community. Our deepest condolences go out to her husband, children and family,” the statement reads.
Rhodes worked at YPS for six years and was most recently a Pre-K assistant at Skyview Elementary. She was also married to a middle school football coach and was an officer in the Yukon Fastpitch Club.
“There is no way that we can express the sadness that we have as a district when we lose one of our own. Mrs. Rhodes has only been with us for six years but has made such a positive impact on staff and students alike,” Simeroth said.

“The Rhodes Family is part of the Yukon Family and will be prayed for and surrounded by friends and loved ones to help them during this emotional time.” Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rhodes. If you would like to help, there has been a GoFundMe made for her family,” Simeroth said.
Yukon School Board member Suzanne Cannon, Office 1, also commented on the tragic loss.
“We are very sad to learn of the loss of Erin Rhodes, a much-loved member of our YPS family. Please join us as we send our sympathy to her family and co-workers,” Cannon said.
