Virginia Ann Mixon, 82, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in Oklahoma City. She was born in Capron, Oklahoma on December 5, 1938, and raised on a farm with her two brothers Mickey and Bobby and her sister Bonnie.
Virginia married Robert Ashton of Alva, and they had three daughters, Glenna, Carol and Robin. Robert passed away at an early age.
Then Virginia married Michael Mixon of Alva, and they had two daughters, Michele and Jennifer. Virginia and Michael moved in 1973 to Yukon where they raised their five daughters.
Virginia was strong in her faith and regularly attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren.
She also enjoyed doing her genealogy and listening to music, especially her two favorite bands Horseshoe Road and Tommy Emmanuel. She loved going to their concerts every chance she could get.
Virginia was known by all as “grandma.” She was everyone’s grandma. Virginia was kind and gentle-natured. She said her favorite thing in life was spending time with her family; that she may not have a lot to add to the conversation, but it made her happy to just sit and listen and see her family spending time together. Virginia was the heart and soul of her family and she will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Ruby Rader, brothers Bobby and Mickey Rader, husband Michael Mixon, and daughters Robin Goodner and Michelle Poster.
Virginia is survived by her sister Bonnie Martin, daughter and son-in-law Glenna and Greg Wirtz, daughter Carol Hargis, daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Heath Muth; seven grandchildren, Chris Preno, Joshua Hargis, Leslie Hargis, Kyle Bisel, Bryce Bisel, Hallie Muth, and Tyler Muth; and five great-grandchildren, Eli, Luke and Evie Preno, and Ashton and Levi Johnson.
