Lynda Fay Watson Shepherd “Nanny,” 91, of Yukon passed away peacefully at home November 10th surrounded by her children. She was born in Athens, Louisiana on January 17th, 1930 to Conver Green Watson and Ione Hays Watson. She graduated from Fair Park High School in 1947 and then her mother let her know she would become a nurse. She attended Tri-State School of Nursing from 1947 to 1950, where she received her RN degree. Her life was her family. She was well-known for grooming her rose garden, quilting, and crochet work. She also enjoyed fishing, baking, crafts, and spending time with her family. Her baby presents were shared among her family and was known for donating crocheted baby blankets to the Oklahoma City Infant’s Crisis Center. Her downtown antique store was filled with treasures from her regional road trips with her husband, John. They collected oil lamps, teapots and candy dishes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 32 years John H. Shepherd; brother, Thurman Watson; sister, Janelle Wineman; former husbands Charles E. Bates and Robert Tatum; son-in-law Dalton Jaye and nephew Ken Wineman.

She is survived by her children, Connie Jaye of Yukon; Cathy Gunter and husband Gary of Oklahoma City; Lynda J. Malinowski and husband Chip of Yukon; Gary Bates of Del City, her 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, November 12, 2021 and 9 a.m. – 2:15 p.m., Saturday, November 13, with funeral services following at 2:30 p.m., at the Yanda & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Yukon Cemetery, Yukon.
