The Yukon Yuletide Express ensured a holly, jolly Christmas for many lucky residents Thursday night to the tune of $4,000 with their big Santa Bucks Departure Party giveaway.
Organized by the Yukon Chamber of Commerce, the evening brought plenty of cheer to those who have shopped locally since Nov. 19. Since that date, participating Yukon businesses have been handing out raffle tickets to customers for every $10 spent in their establishment with a maximum of 500 tickets per visit.
On Thursday night in the parking lot of the Yukon Chamber of Commerce, 10 W. Main, participants wrote their name and phone number on each ticket and dropped them in a drawing box at the Yuletide Express Departure Party. Santa and Mrs. Clause were on-hand to draw the red tickets from the hopper.
Those shoppers whose names were drawn received Santa Bucks for upcoming shopping trips. Participating retailers that handed out the red raffle tickets agreed to accept the Santa Bucks certificates for winners to use like cash.
The exciting night kicked off with Christmas trivia led by Chamber of Commerce CEO, Pam Shelton. Participants were awarded with large candy canes and other sweet prizes.
After some photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Shelton and her elves – Chamber employees Jami DeBusk and Julie Simeroth – started drawing names.
Lucky winners that night included: C. Garber, Curtis Schroeder, Together We Center, Becky Stephenson, Sherri Campbell, Veronica Garcia, Debbie Covington, Angey Thomas, Ron Cobb, Tami Mitchell, Katie Bechtol, Nancy Scholtess, The Kapkas, Alicia Cox, Helena Scott, Rhonda White, Jamie Tucker, Beautiful Day Foundation, Joshua Stieferman, Charles Vandiver, Candy Sturgeon, Keri Barker, Norma Ray, Lisa Corn, Debra Sparks, and Tammy Peterson.
