Martha Jane Rogers, known to family and friends as “Janie”, passed away peacefully on the evening of December 27, 2021 about 6 p.m. in El Reno.  Janie was 80 years old when she died.

Janie was born in Fort Worth, Texas on June 15, 1941 and she was the oldest of two children and the only daughter of Odette and Orville Lazenby.

Janie grew up in Texas where she graduated from Pasadena High School and later from Durham Business School where she attended on a full scholarship.  Janie was employed by Shell Chemical Company where she met and became engaged to Johnny Rogers, an engineer and a graduate of the University of Tennessee.

Janie was married to Johnny Rogers on June 15, 1963 at Shaw Street Church of Christ in Houston, Texas. They were happily married for 58 years until her recent passing.

Janie moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1968 where she worked for Monsanto Chemical Company. Later she moved to Shreveport, Louisiana.  After retirement, she moved to Florida to be closer to her grandchildren, then to California and finally to Yukon, Oklahoma.

Janie enjoyed bird watching, was an avid golfer and a Huge Dallas Cowboys fan.  She was a member of the South Yukon Church of Christ with her husband Johnny.

Janie is survived by her husband Johnny Rogers; daughter Jeannie and husband Eric, their children Matthew, Brandon and Erica, and great grandchildren Hannah and Henry; son John and his daughter Olivia; daughter June and her fiancé Rick.

A small graveside service for the family will be at the El Reno Cemetery on December 30, 2021 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of her granddaughter Daniella Rogers.
