Yukon Public Schools will close all schools Thursday, January 13 and Friday, Jan. 14 due to staffing shortages, district officials have announced.
Students will return to class Tuesday.
“Our top priority is to maintain the health and safety of our students,
teachers, and staff,” a statement from the district reads.
The decision was reportedly made due to the lack of the ability to safely supervise the students.

The days off will not be virtual learning days but will be counted as emergency leave days.
“My top concern is the physical and mental well-being of our YPS Family, and this
decision will be a huge benefit to them in lasting the rest of the year,” Superintendent Dr. Jason Simeroth said. “The closure will give our teachers and students five full days to regroup and recover.”
We will continue to work with state and local health officials for guidance on decisions
made about COVID-19. YPS will maintain constant communication with parents, staff, and our community on any updates.”
