An Oklahoma City man is dead after a Sunday shooting in Yukon.

Yukon Deputy Police Chief John Brown said a resident in the 300 block of Spruce Drive shot and killed her ex-boyfriend after he allegedly broke into her home and attacked her. Boyd Jones, 23, was identified by Yukon Police as the man killed in the Feb. 27 incident.

Yukon Police dispatchers received at 911 call at about 4:06 a.m. Feb. 27 from the woman, Brown said. An investigation preliminarily determined 23-year-old Boyd Jones broke into the woman’s home and confronted her.

“The ex-boyfriend began to physically attack the female resident before she used a handgun shooting the ex-boyfriend in the stomach,” Brown stated in a Monday release concerning the incident. “Medical responded and transported the ex-boyfriend to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

The homicide remained under investigation Tuesday morning, Maj. Matt Fairchild said. The department would present the evidence obtained during that investigation and present it to the Canadian County District Attorney’s office to determine if any charges were warranted.

The woman was not arrested in the wake of the shooting, officials said.
