At least 30 members of the Yukon High School Class of 2022 will be awarded scholarships granted by the Yukon Alumni Association.

Yukon Alumni board members are firming up plans for their annual alumni weekend festivities, highlighted by a golf tournament and banquet on Saturday, June 4.

“We’ll give out at least 30 scholarships,” Yukon Alumni board member Neta Duke said. “The top two will receive $1,500 and $1,300, and all the rest will get $1,000.”

The YHS Alumni Association has awarded more than $415,000 in scholarships to graduating YHS seniors over the past 45-plus years.

“We’ll give scholarships to Yukon High School seniors who plan to attend a college, vocational-technical school or university this fall,” Duke added.

“Students are selected based on a written essay, academics, extracurricular activities, and work. We also look at their need.”

Completed applications are due Friday, April 29 to YHS counselor Jami Kale.

All YHS seniors are eligible for these scholarships, regardless of whether their parents are YHS graduates.

YHS Alumni board members will review the scholarship requests and select this year’s recipients anonymously.

Graduating Yukon seniors earning scholarships will be notified no later than June 3.

The scholarships will be presented during the annual YHS Alumni Banquet set 6:30 p.m. June 4 inside the YHS food court, 1777 S Yukon Parkway.

Tickets ($20 each) are on sale in advance at Conrad Marr Drug and YNB Bank and will be sold at the door.

This year’s YHS honor classes are 1942, 1947, 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2002, 2007, 2012, and 2022.
