Yukon Concerts in the Park kick offs off Thursday

Chisholm Trail Park will come alive to the sound of music once again, as the city’s Concerts in the Park series begins Thursday.

The annual event begins Thursday, June 2 with Dakota Murillo and the Wild Bunch. Concerts will continue through Aug. 4; all begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free of charge.

All concerts will be held at the Chisholm Trail Park Gazebo, located at 500 W. Vandament.

Parks and Recreation staff recommend anyone attending bring lawn chairs and blankets; concessions will be available.

The rest of Concerts in the Park’s summer lineup has been announced as follows:

  • June 9 – Irv Wagner Jazz Combo
  • June 16 – Steve Crossley
  • June 23 – Core Country
  • July 7 – Big Train and the Loco Motives
  • July 21 – Mystery Dates
  • July 28 – Oklahoma City Community Band
  • 4 – Champ Devere

In addition to Concerts in the Park, three special event concerts were scheduled in Yukon as of press time.

The Route 66 Triple Tour is set for June 18 and features Dale Watson and Jimmy Dale Richardson in a Rockabilly concert slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.

Yukon’s Veteran’s Tribute is scheduled for 5 to 10 p.m. July 3. Set to perform are Hi-Fi Hillbillies and Irv Wagner’s Concert Band. The next day is Freedom Fest, which runs from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.; among featured performers are Overdrive, Superfreak and Oklahoma City Philharmonic.
