Jessie Teresa Horacek, 81, passed away on Sept. 13, 2022. Jessie was born on May 1, 1941, to Jess and Theresa Guilfoyle in a farmhouse between Sperry and Skiatook Oklahoma.
The family then moved and purchased a dairy farm in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, where she was often seen in the pasture convincing the cows to come into the barn. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1959 and looked forward to getting away from the farm.
She met and later married her loving husband, Marion Horacek, on May 27, 1961, after their parents set them up on a blind date. They were married for 51 years, making homes in Sapulpa, Forest City, Arkansas, and finally landing in Yukon, Oklahoma.
Jessie owned an art studio for several years while living in Forest City, before becoming a rural route carrier at the Yukon Post Office for 20 years. She represented her coworkers as the union representative and was lucky to have many friends she loved. She retired in 2007 when Marion became ill with dementia. She provided loving care for him until his death in 2013.
Jessie loved her family. She was a chauffeur for all the activities her daughters, Brenda and Tammy, joined. She learned to pull a horse trailer throughout the country to make sure her girls made it to horse shows. She saddled horses and made them behave like no one’s business. She became family to many that also showed horses.
She was smart and tough, and she could figure out how to do anything she needed, like sewing, painting and building anything. She loved Coca-Cola, Hot Tamales and shopping trips to different cities with family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Marion Horacek; parents, Jess and Theresa Guilfoyle; and brother, J.L. Guilfoyle. She is survived by her sisters, Joyce Bayouth and Johnette Green; daughter, Brenda Faulkner and husband Keith; daughter, Tammy Niles and husband Jason; grandchildren: Jerry and wife Ayuko, Katelyn, Trey, Addie and Hannah; and many loved family members.
The family would like to thank the staff of Crossroads Hospice and OU Medical Center for their care.
