What led you to work with the city?

Libraries have always been really important to me and my family. And so, when we moved here six years ago, that was the first thing that I did. I looked at all the local libraries and this was the one that I really liked. I asked if I could volunteer and my kids got involved in the programs. A position came available and I was really excited to take it.

Describe your duties?

I run children’s programs, collection development for the children’s area. Circulation, like all of us, prepare processing and havoc making where ever possible for the benefit of the library.

What is your favorite part of working with the city?

I really like working with the kids. I love when kids and families come in, when you see a sense of community being built. Programs a lot of times have kids coming in that are home schooled or new to the area and it’s just really cool to see them make a connection somewhere. Not only to the library, but they will make friends and families meet each other through story time or things like that and build a sense of community.

What are your professional goals?

I want to keep on improving and doing better at what I am doing.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Cooking, I like all kinds of food. I get food boredom quickly and make all kinds of things. Sara (Schieman, Mabel C. Fry librarian) is always picking on me for my weird food items. I love spending time outdoors. I love spending time with my family.
