Violet Patricia (Robinson) Murphy (Pat), 91, of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday Feb. 19, 2023, at the home of her daughter in Oklahoma City. She was born on Dec. 23, 1931, in Correctionville, Iowa, the youngest of 10 children to Grover C. Robinson, Sr., and Violet (Parsel) Robinson.

She was a 1950 graduate of Correctionville High School, in Correctionville, Iowa.  After graduation, she went to Ewing, Nebraska, to help her sister in her restaurant, where she met Donald E. Murphy from O’Neill, Nebraska. She and Don were married a year later, on July 12, 1951, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anthon, Iowa.

Don served in the U.S. Marines after they were married. In May 1952, Don was stationed in Santa Ana, California, where Pat joined him until his discharge in November 1953.  After discharge they returned to Sioux City, Iowa, where Pat worked in the service industry and as a homemaker, wife, and mother of seven.

In September 1976, Don and Pat moved their family to Yukon, Oklahoma, where Pat volunteered at the schools as an aide and raised her family. She enjoyed bowling, crafting and sewing for family and friends.  She was a member of St. John’s Nepomuk Catholic Church and the Altar Society from 1976 to her passing.  Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother.  She was devoted to her family and friends with a very strong faith, and always with a helping hand.  She will be missed by many. She was the last of her generation in our family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, James and Kathryne Murphy; husband, Don; one daughter, Christina J. Murphy; three sons-in-law; one grandson, Gregory J. Murphy; four sisters; six sisters-in-law; five brothers; and six brothers-in-law.

Pat is survived by six children: Patty Newman of Oklahoma City; Vilene (James) Savage, Sr., of Nevada, Iowa; Grover (Debbie) Murphy, Sr., of Dibble; Donna Murphy-Nanney, Kathy (Cary) Burwell and Carol Hall, all of Yukon; 28 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. and all day Monday, Feb. 27, 2023. Family will be present from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, at Yanda & Son Funeral Home, 1500 W. Vandament in Yukon, Oklahoma. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2023, at St. John’s Nepomuk Catholic Church, 600 Garth Brooks Blvd., Yukon, Oklahoma, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery, Yukon, Oklahoma.
