Isla Jean Kyle

Isla Jean Kyle passed away on March 18, 2023, surrounded by family after suffering a stroke. Isla Jean was born to Herman and Mildred Wiedemann in Yukon, Oklahoma, on Dec. 22, 1937. She grew up in Richland, Oklahoma, and graduated from Yukon High School in 1956.

After graduation she attended Blackwood Business College and began her career as an executive secretary. She met the love of her life, John Kyle, while working at Mecklenburg Duncan. They were married at the Lutheran Church in El Reno, Oklahoma, on June 27, 1958. Following their marriage, she continued working for Aero Commander until 1964. They purchased their first home in Edmond, Oklahoma, and began raising their family.

Together, they had three children- Glen, Susan and Karla. In 1976, they moved back to Yukon with their family and began farming. Jean worked side by side with ‘Johnny’ on the farm and always had her grandkids at her side.

Jean was a member of the Lucky Four Homemakers Extension Club, Frisco Cemetery Women’s Club, Yukon First United Methodist Church and she served on the Frisco Cemetery Board of Directors. She had a passion for genealogy and historical research and helped write the Canadian County History Book and several books on the history of her family.

Jean was an avid gardener and loved irises. She loved to travel in their motorhome, especially visiting the coast. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was very involved in their lives and loved traveling across the United States to cheer them on at their sporting events and activities.

Jean Kyle is survived by John Kyle, her husband of 64 3/4 years; daughters, Susan Green and husband John and Karla Rayburn and husband Rick; her grandchildren, Teresa Lamb (Ike), Jessica Kyle (Blake), Courtney Abbe (Brandon), Dakottah Kyle, Cheyenne Kyle, Kaylee Rayburn and Analise Rayburn; and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Mildred Wiedemann; her son, Glen Kyle; and her granddaughter, Casey Abbe.

Jean’s life will be remembered with a Visitation on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ingram, Smith & Turner Mortuary in Yukon. Her Funeral Service will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Yukon, with burial to follow at Frisco Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ingram, Smith and Turner Mortuary in Yukon, Oklahoma.
