EL RENO – An Edmond man has pleaded guilty in a child rape and sexual assault case investigated by Yukon Police.
Formal sentencing for Carlos Gabriel Fields, 21, will be March 23 before Canadian County District Judge Khristan K. Strubhar.
Fields was charged in July 2021 with second-degree rape and lewd/indecent acts to child under 16.
Prosecutors allege the defendant violated state law “by having sexual intercourse” and “touching and/or feeling the body and/or private parts” of a 14-year-old girl “in a lewd or lascivious manner by act(s) against public decency and morality.”
Fields was 19 when the crimes allegedly occurred in May 2021.
Fields appeared with his attorney Jason Spanich at a Feb. 23rd hearing before Judge Strubhar. Assistant District Attorney Taylor Brown represented the District Attorney’s Office.
After the judge heard testimony, Fields entered the guilty plea on both felony counts.
Pursuant to a plea agreement between prosecutors and the defendant, Fields is due to be sentenced to serve 10 years in state prison followed by three years suspended.
The sentences would run concurrently, with Fields receiving credit for time served in the Canadian County Jail.
As a convicted sex offender, Fields is due to be supervised by the state Department of Corrections while on probation after his release from custody.
Fields has been housed at the Canadian County Jail since July 19, 2021, when he was booked after being arrested by Yukon Police.

MOTHER CALLED YUKON POLICE
The juvenile victim’s mother had called the Yukon Police Department on June 3, 2021, after learning of the sexual assault, according to a probable cause affidavit.
A Yukon police investigator interviewed the minor at the Child Abuse Response Team (CART) House in El Reno.
“The victim said she pushed the defendant away because he had never tried to do anything like that before,” according to the investigator’s affidavit. “When she tried to push the defendant, he grabbed onto her arms/wrist and pushed her to the bed holding her arms to the bed.”
The subsequent alleged assault is described in the court document. Afterward, Fields reportedly told the victim that “nothing happened”.
A YPD investigator interviewed Fields on June 11, 2021, at the Yukon police station.
At first, he denied the allegations but later in the interview reportedly admitted to having sex with the victim.
“The defendant said he did not rape the victim and that he denied it originally because it was embarrassing,” according to the affidavit.
Second-degree rape is punishable by one to 15 years in prison. Lewd/indecent acts to child under 16 is punishable by three to 20 years in prison.
