Marion Lee Ratterman

Marion Lee Ratterman of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the age of 83. Marion was born the second of four siblings to Albert and Mary Ratterman on Oct. 16, 1939. He was raised and attended public school in Union City, Oklahoma, where from a young age he learned the values of hard work and helping others.

Marion served six years in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. He met his future wife, Norma Jean (Link), at the Yukon Czech Hall, and they were married on April 8, 1967. Making their home in Yukon, they began their family and never left. His family was the joy of his life and he worked hard to lovingly provide for them.

It could be said Marion was happiest when he had a wrench in his hand. His entire working career and many of his hobbies involved him fixing just about anything mechanical. There was almost no repair job that was too challenging for him to attempt. It’s also safe to say that Marion never met anyone he wouldn’t have a conversation with. He spent countless summer evenings sitting in the driveway visiting with neighbors or anyone else that happened to be walking down the street. If you were in line behind him at a store it’s very unlikely you would leave the store without first visiting for a while. Marion was a loyal and dedicated member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic church for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Ratterman. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Norma Jean (Link) Ratterman; son, Wayne Ratterman; son, Randy Ratterman and his wife Jill; and grandchildren, Andrew and Ella, all of Yukon. He is also survived by one brother, John Ratterman of Yukon; and one sister, Mary Kay Ratterman of Union City, as well as numerous other family and friends.

Marion’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the caring staff of Ranchwood Nursing Center, who cared for him like he was a part of their family for the last three years. They would also like to thank the staff of Frontier Hospice, who brought him extra care and love over his final few days.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, beginning at 11 a.m., with a Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m. at Yanda and Son Funeral Home, Yukon, Oklahoma. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 11, at 11 a.m. at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Yukon, Oklahoma, with interment following at 2 p.m., at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Marion’s memory to St. John’s Nepomuk Church, 600 South Garth Brooks Boulevard, Yukon, Oklahoma, or a charity of your choosing.
